Leonore specialises in the resolution of complex high-value disputes. Her specific experience includes construction, corporate/commercial, judicial reviews, insurance, fraud, negligence and financial disputes. She has successfully represented numerous clients in arbitrations, court actions and mediations.

Leonore has previously held in-house counsel roles in both the financial and public sectors. This gives her a valuable understanding of the various financial, policy and strategic considerations that can influence disputes.

She is dual-qualified in England & Wales and Ireland.

Clean Energy Disputes

  • Acting in various high-value complex construction disputes that are being resolved at pre-action stage.
  • Acting for a developer in relation to two separate high profile and complex judicial review challenges to planning permission granted for two offshore windfarm projects (both with NSIP status). Working with the government legal team to successfully defeat the fast-tracked challenges at each stage up to the Supreme Court.
  • Successfully defending an £8 million claim in relation to a multi-party construction dispute relating to the construction of a solar farm. The complex claim was successfully settled at a multi-party mediation with a favourable outcome for our client following the first case management conference.
  • Acting in a complex international dispute in relation to defects in the construction of a deep-sea interconnector cable project that was successfully resolved prior to pleadings being served.

Construction, Corporate and Commercial Disputes

  • Acting in an international financial services dispute concerning breaches of various agreements valued at USD$2.3 million.
  • Successfully acting in an arbitration in relation to business interruption insurance claims for over £16 million arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the dispute and costs settled in favour of our group action clients.
  • Acting in a complex and fast-paced international arbitration concerning an oil and gas sector construction project dispute for €23 million, with the final awards made in favour of our client.
  • Acting in, and resolving multiple complex construction disputes while on a 6-month secondment with a key client.
  • Successfully representing a professional trustee in settling a complex multi-party £500 million investment dispute.
  • Acting in a €50 million claim for misrepresentation, mismanagement and breach of contract that was successfully resolved post-trial.
  • Acting in three related proceedings concerning allegations of breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, and other complex financial and property development transactions for approx £18 million. This included international freezing and asset disclosure injunctions, and related insolvency proceedings.
  • Advising clients on ad hoc contractual, defamation and copyright issues, and resolving disputes via pre-action correspondence, negotiations and/or alternative dispute resolution methods.
