Scott has extensive experience in all legal aspects of commercial real estate, including developments, leasing, asset management, acquisitions, disposals, and real estate finance.

He has a particularly strong track record in five areas.

Student Accommodation/PBSA

Scott advises both privately funded student accommodation providers and Universities (including some of some of the UK’s biggest PBSA providers) on the management, trading and funding of PBSA assets.

Build to Rent/BTR

Scott advises large-scale investors/developers in the growing BTR market in Scotland.

Hospitality and Leisure

He acts for a number of owners and operators in the hospitality and leisure sector, including PLCs and private owners of some of the most prestigious hotels in Scotland.

Energy Infrastructure

He represents a number of nationally significant owners and operators of Scottish energy infrastructure, both with respect to traditional natural resources and also more modern energy sources.

Investment/Funds Work

Scott represents several fund managers in connection with the acquisition, management, leasing, funding and disposal of their Scottish assets, including high-value multi-let offices, retail parks and industrial properties.

  • Acting for Get Living in their purchase and sale of a 7.5 acre BTR development site in central Glasgow.
  • Acting for Parabola in connection with their mixed-use development of Edinburgh Park, including sales to S1 Developments and PFP (for residential development) and to AEG for the Edinburgh Park Entertainment Arena.
  • Acting for Empiric Student Property plc in their acquisition of purpose-built student accommodation at Claremont House in Glasgow.
  • Acting for Safestay plc in the purchase and sale of their Edinburgh hostel (the largest in Edinburgh at the time of sale), and the subsequent purchase of a city centre development site for their new hostel premises in Edinburgh.
  • Acting for NSMP Operations in connection with their purchase of the St Fergus Gas Terminal in Aberdeenshire and interests in the SIRGE gas pipeline.
  • Acting on the Scottish real estate aspects of the refinancing of one of Scotland’s biggest oil infrastructure assets.
  • Acting for an infrastructure operator in connection with a new gas pipeline in Shetland to connect into SIRGE and the Sullom Voe Terminal.
  • Acting for a number of property investors (including Savills IM and CBRE IM) in purchasing, managing, leasing and selling investment properties across various sectors, including offices, retail and industrial properties.
