Based in our Rural Property and Business team, Katie advises on all aspects of agricultural and rural property transactions, including the sale and purchase of farms, forestry matters, and renewable energy projects.

Katie has a focus on the sale and purchase of forestry, large estates, and agricultural properties, as well as their ongoing management. Katie has particular expertise on forestry and natural capital matters, including the sale and purchase of carbon units arising from woodland planting and peatland restoration projects.

Rural property matters

Advising on the purchase and sale of large estates including with salmon fishings, short term holiday lets, and contract farming arrangements.
Acting for community bodies and charities in a range of rural property matters including leases, acquisitions, collaboration agreements, and option agreements.
Advising landowners in respect of specialist rural property issues, including access disputes; rights of pre-emption and redemption; servitudes; and burdens.

Forestry and natural capital

Acting for forestry investors in the acquisition of a number of existing forestry and woodland planting sites across Scotland.
Advising both project developers and landowners in carbon sequestration projects by way of woodland and peatland restoration for the sale and purchase of carbon units.
