Ross Simpson

Ross is a Senior Solicitor in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team. He primarily advises on disputes which relate to commercial or residential property, and those within the rural sector. 

He also has experience with contentious executries and debt recovery. Ross has appeared on behalf of his clients in Sheriff Courts across Scotland, as well as in the Scottish Land Court, the First Tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber), the Court of Session, and the Lands Tribunal for Scotland.

He is also experienced in the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and mediation.  

  • Defending several Lands Tribunal applications brought against multiple landowners under the Electronic Communications Code.
  • Acting for the tenant of an aquaculture facility in a rent review arbitration.
  • Defending two related Land Court applications seeking determination of croft boundaries and rectification of the Register of Crofts.
  • Acting for enforcement administrator in actions for recovery of funds due under Proceeds of Crime legislation.
  • Advising landowners and developers on crofting legislation, their rights and obligations, and their options for removing land from crofting tenure. 
  • Advising commercial tenants and landlords on repairing obligations and remediation of premises at yielding up.
  • Acting for rural landowners in matters involving trespass and damage caused by livestock.
  • Acting for heritable creditor in possession of multiple properties in actions for removal of third-party unauthorised occupants from those properties and related breach of interdict proceedings.
  • Advising landlords of residential properties on repossession proceedings and appearing in the Housing and Property Chamber of the First Tier Tribunal for Scotland.
  • Acting for landowners in actions for removal of unauthorised occupiers.
