Jamie Grant

Jamie has decades of in-depth experience in property, and specialises in port and harbour work. He recently retired as a Partner, and was head of our Hotels and Leisure group. He is also highly experienced in environmental law (particularly contaminated land), and has advised on it for clients in both of his specialist sectors.

This expertise is combined in environment-related development work such as renewable energy, harbour development and management, redevelopment of major sites, and development of waste facilities. He has also been involved in rail and road projects. He is skilled at leading teams of lawyers who can address the property, planning, construction and environmental aspects of development projects while co-ordinating with both the client and with the other consultants and advisers involved.

Jamie is the author of many legal briefings and updates. 

•    Advising Clydeport on the development of new cruise ship terminal at Greenock, including public sector funding and Crown Estate seabed lease.
•    For Ardersier Port (Haventus), promoting a statutory order under the Pilotage Act 1987 to confer pilotage powers on Ardersier in advance of reopening of harbour undergoing £450 million development.
•    Advising Clydeport on the redevelopment of Hunterston Port and Marine Yard (one of the largest brownfield sites in the UK) for various uses including HV cable manufacture, green hydrogen, converter station, and a fish hatchery.
•    Advising EDF on the development of O+M base at Eyemouth Harbour for the Naort na Gaoithe offshore windfarm including exclusive use of part of the harbour for berthing purposes.
•    Advising Clydeport on 50 concession agreement for operation of the cruise terminal by GPH, largest cruise terminal operator in the world.
•    For Offshore Wind Power Limited, negotiation of Memoranda of Understanding with construction and O+M ports for development of West of Orkney Windfarm, including ongoing negotiation of O+M base. 
•    Advising Tarbert Harbour Authority on re-modernising Harbour Revision Order.
•    For Clydeport, negotiation of bridge agreements relating to two new bridges across the Clyde which which to be transited by navigation.
•    Advising ScottishPower in Project Barn Owl which included the sale of all SP hydro assets at Cruachan, Galloway, and Lanark.
•    Advising ScottishPower Generation Assets Limited on the sale/redevelopment of the former power station sites at Longannet and Inverkip, as well as several other land disposals.
•    Acting for Inverbroom Hydro Limited in the development of a run-of-river hydro scheme at Inverbroom near Ullapool.
