Jack Freeland

Jack is an Associate in our Immigration team. He advises on all aspects of UK immigration and British nationality law.

For businesses, he provides strategic advice to employers who want to recruit internationally, and has assisted clients across all sectors to obtain and maintain sponsor licences. Jack also helps organisations to comply with UK immigration law and sponsor licence duties. He specialises in compliance issues within the care sector, and has written extensively on this subject. Jack also advises overseas businesses on immigration strategy to facilitate work on UK projects, and to establish UK branches and subsidiaries.

Additionally, Jack advises private individuals and their families on immigration options for remaining in and relocating to the UK, with particular expertise in complex spouse and partner cases. He also assists with British citizenship across all application routes.

  • Supporting a global video game developer with sponsor licence compliance and work visa applications for international programmers and game designers.
  • Providing ongoing immigration counsel to care providers across the UK, managing sponsorship compliance and work visa applications across numerous care homes.
  • Advising a Scottish Premiership football club on sponsor licence compliance and visa applications for international signings.
  • Supporting a leading marine services company with sponsorship of roles on offshore vessels in UK territorial waters.
  • Advising a numerous religious organisation on sponsorship of foreign ministers of religion.
  • Assisting Scottish universities with Student sponsor licence compliance and advising on complex Student visa issues.
  • Supporting numerous Scottish hospitality businesses with sponsorship of foreign chefs and restaurant managers.
  • Supported numerous spouse and partner visa applicants, involving complexities such as cash savings held across multiple different accounts and currencies, or held as investments; employment income from multiple jobs or from employment held less than six months; and cases involving children from previous relationships where one parent will not be travelling to the UK and is separated from their child.
  • Assisting individuals with applications for British citizenship through naturalisation, and by registration on account of previous historical legislative unfairness.
