Eleanor is highly experienced in a wide range of estate planning matters. She advises individuals and families on all aspects of inheritance tax and capital gains tax; the preparation of wills and living wills; administration of estates; the formation and administration of trusts; asset protection; and adults with incapacity legislation.
She specialises in complex trusts and estates and in assisting entrepreneurs and other high net worth individuals with their succession and tax planning. Key to this is close collaboration with clients’ other professional advisers, such as accountants and financial advisers.
Eleanor is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in advising families on inheritance and succession planning across generations.
- Advising the principal shareholders of unlisted private companies in relation to tax-efficient business succession-planning and inheritance tax-planning, including creation of trusts. Working closely with colleagues in our Corporate team and with the shareholders’ own tax advisers, a bespoke solution was created in each case, matching that family’s needs and priorities.
- Advising clients who became ‘cash rich’ on inheritance tax-efficient planning options, including Family Investment Companies.
- Advising high-net-worth legal rights claimants on the value of their claims and possible alternative strategies.
- In conjunction with colleagues in our Commercial Disputes Resolution team, advising trustees of a family trust on potential liabilities arising out of the actions of a fellow trustee.
- Drafting complex wills to suit unconventional and complex family circumstances.
- Advising an Attorney on their duties and responsibilities in circumstances where third parties were found to have misappropriated the Adult’s funds.
- Assisting a family with tax efficient planning involving a long-established family trust ahead of the sale of the family business in which the Trustees held shares.
