David Mitchell

David has over 25 years’ experience in the Scottish property market and heads the firm's Real Estate Sector. He acts for a broad range of clients, including major UK REITs and institutional investment funds. He has particular expertise in property development, having been involved in a number of significant office, retail and mixed-use projects across Scotland.

  • Advising British Land in relation to Scottish real estate matters including the acquisition of Queens Drive Retail Park, Kilmarnock and Inshes Retail Park, Inverness – adding to an existing asset management mandate that extends to Fort Kinnaird, Glasgow Fort, Inverness Shopping Park and Central Retail Park, Falkirk. 
  • Advising LondonMetric on the Scottish aspects of their takeover of LXi REIT (29 properties in Scotland), subsequent disposals of several properties and the separate acquisitions of logistics assets at Badentoy Drive, Portlethen and Kirkton Avenue, Dyce.
  • Advising Warehouse REIT on the acquisition and all asset management matters at Queenslie Industrial Estate, Glasgow; Air Cargo Industrial Estate, Glasgow; Glasgow Airport Business Park, Murcar Industrial Estate, Aberdeen; 23 South Gyle, Edinburgh; Cairn Court, East Kilbride; Birkenshaw Industrial Estate, Glasgow; and South Fort Business Park, Edinburgh.
  • Advising a Lonestar fund (managed by Hudson Advisors) on their acquisition (and financing) of the £111m share capital acquisition of Union Square Developments Limited, owner of Union Square Shopping Centre, Aberdeen. 
  • Advising investment manager Baillie Gifford in agreeing a 20-year pre-let on 280,000 sq ft of office accommodation at the Haymarket Edinburgh development. 
  • Advising BlackRock on taking an assignation of the existing long lease of the 140,000 sq ft Dundas House, Brandon Street, Edinburgh.
  • Advising The William Pears Group on the acquisition of the 78 house portfolio at Craighall, Edinburgh from the MOD; and the residential Caledonian portfolio, consisting of around 100 residential flats in various sites across Scotland.
  • Advising Fiera Real Estate on the acquisition of the Range, Great Western Retail Park and a Brewdog Logistics Unit, Eurocentral.
  • Advising Sidra Capital on the £87m sale of Great Western Retail Park in Glasgow to Realty Income.
