Anna Brenstrum

Anna is a Senior Solicitor in our Planning & Environment team. She qualified in New Zealand, and prior to joining Shepherd and Wedderburn, she worked in the planning team at a leading commercial law firm there. 

Anna has experience of working with applicants and interested parties in navigating the consenting processes that apply to energy generation developments, with a particular focus on renewable energy. She has advised clients on applications for development consent orders, as well as applications under the Electricity Act 1989 and Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997. This included advising clients on the development of environmental impact assessments and other key documents in the consenting process.

She also has experience (both in New Zealand and the UK) of undertaking due diligence for the acquisition of high-value land and infrastructure.

  • Advising Orsted in respect of the impacts of the proposed Mona, Morgan and Morecambe offshore windfarms on their existing assets in the East Irish Sea. 
  • Representing Statkraft in respect of its application for section 36 consent for a proposed onshore windfarm in Scotland. 
  • Advising North Sea Midstream Partners in respect of the impacts of the proposed H2 Teesside hydrogen production facility on their assets. 
  • Advising the New Zealand Transport Agency throughout the consenting processes related to the construction of two major national highways. 
  • Advising New Zealand Government (Ministry for the Environment) in respect of proposed reforms to the resource management system.
