Andrew specialises in banking and structured finance, covering securitisation and acquisition, asset and real estate finance.

As well as acting for a wide range of corporate clients, Andrew has also acted for a significant number of UK and overseas banks and financial institutions. He is also highly experienced in the energy sector, having been involved with it since the early 1990s. Andrew has also been active in a number of law reform projects, including the Scottish Law Commission project that led to the Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Act 2023. This aims to significantly improve access to finance for businesses operating in Scotland.

  • Acting for the lender group on the refinancing of a major UK-based oil and gas company operating in the North Sea.
  • Advising a number of major UK companies on the establishment of their supply chain finance programmes.
  • Advising on a wide range of asset-based finance transactions (including syndicated ABL transactions) across a variety of asset classes, including receivables, plant and machinery, inventory, rolling stock, timber and whisky, for clients including major UK lenders, brewers, distillers and plant hire companies.
  • Advising Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited in relation to LIBOR transition in relation to all of its £2.6 billion project finance facilities (which involved amendment and restatement of the main financing documents (English Law and Scots Law)).
  • Acting for Safestay plc, a leading UK provider of premium hostel accommodation, in connection with the refinance of its term loan and working capital facilities with HSBC.
  • Acting for Lloyds Banking Group in connection with the Mound, Permanent and Pendeford master trust securitisation programmes.
  • Acting for Virgin Money in connection with its covered bond and master trust securitisation programmes.
  • Advising a group of lenders on the Scottish aspects of funding a substantial term loan facility made available to a leading UK care home provider.
