Andrew Hall

Andrew is head of our Property and Infrastructure division, and has been on our board for well over a decade. He has over thirty years’ experience in all aspects of real estate, specialising in commercial and residential property development.

His particular experience includes leasing and investment, property finance, land promotion, infrastructure projects, urban regeneration and strategic land projects. Andrew also heads our Living Sector, acting for a wide range of volume housebuilders, landowners, affordable housing providers and public sector bodies in the purchase and disposal of sites for development. He has a particular focus on large scale major growth areas and multi-developer mixed use sites with collaboration aspects.

  • Advising BAE Systems in the remediation and regeneration of the former Royal Ordnance Factory at Bishopton, (one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe) including Network Rail bridge crossings and the new slip road off the M8; sales of part of the site for the primary schools; sale of the supermarket sites; and sale of development plots in excess of 4,500 units.
  • Advising Wheatley Group and its subsidiaries (one of the largest social landlords in Europe) on several of its regeneration projects, working with the in-house team including the acquisition of two of its largest sites at West Craigs, Edinburgh with the negotiation of the infrastructure and planning gain elements and acquiring Deans South.
  • Advising Miller Homes on the majority of its site acquisitions in both the East and West of Scotland including Shawfair, Midlothian; West Craigs and Turnhouse Road, Edinburgh; Dalhousie, Bonnyrigg;  Hawkhead Road, Paisley;  Jackton Gardens; and the former Croy Quarry.
  • Acting for Taylor Wimpey for decades on its site acquisitions and disposals across Scotland, including advising on its strategic land portfolio leading to major growth area developments at Newton Farm, Cambuslang; Maidenhill, Glasgow; Dunfermline; and Bonnyrigg.
  • Advising I & H Brown Limited on a number of site acquisitions and disposals across Scotland, including Mid Craigie Retail Park, Dundee (the former ABB Building) for commercial development and the subsequent lettings to LIDL and Arnold Clark; the site assembly and subsequent sale of the 1,500 unit development at Colton, Dunfermline and the 450 unit development at Banknock, Falkirk.
  • Advising Avant Homes on the acquisition of the remainder of its site at Edmonstone, Edinburgh including the consortium negotiations and infrastructure and district heating elements.
  • Advising a number of local authorities (including Stirling Council; City of Edinburgh Council; and West Lothian Council) and private landowners (including a number of golf clubs)  on the disposal of land for development.
