Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards

Last night – Thursday 22 May 2014 – 700 guests including leaders from the Scottish food & drinks industry gathered in Edinburgh at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards ceremony. The awards annually showcase the best of Scottish produce and innovation. Of the 22 accolades awarded, law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn sponsored the Excellence in Alcoholic Drinks category. In the weeks before Christmas, staff at leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn donated food items to the Trussell Trust 's North West Edinburgh and Glasgow South East food banks. Over 145kg of non-perishable food items such as pasta, cereals, tea bags, coffee, tinned meat, fish and biscuits were donated and collected by staff at the firm, and later delivered to the food banks.

Shepherd and Wedderburn advise JESSICA fund on investment in key development site

Shepherd and Wedderburn advised the Scottish Partnership for Regeneration in Urban Centres (SPRUCE) on its £9.6 million investment, required to progress the £200 million redevelopment of The Haymarket site in Edinburgh.  The investment will facilitate the critical first phase of work which includes strengthening two railway tunnels as well as archaeological excavations.

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has been advising LondonMetric Property Plc on the Scottish aspects of the acquisition of a portfolio of 27 DSF assets (22 stores, four distribution centres and the DFS head office in Doncaster). LondonMetric are forming a new joint venture with LVS II Lux X S.a.r.l which will be called LMP Retail Warehouse JV Property Unit Trust, and it is this JV that will acquire the 903,700sqft portfolio for £175 million.  The acquisition is due to complete on 25 March 2014.

Shepherd and Wedderburn advise on first UK investment property for Australian investor

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has completed the acquisition of Elgin House, Haymarket Yards, Edinburgh, on behalf of an Australian client investing in commercial property, from a subsidiary of London & Regional for £10.2 million. Originally built under a PFI contract, the 4553m2 Elgin House has been a regional office of the Inland Revenue in Edinburgh since the building opened more than ten years ago.  The purchaser is seeking to invest in commercial properties and this acquisition is their first in the UK.
