Shepherd and Wedderburn lawyer scoops prestigious award

On Thursday 28 May, guests and nominees gathered at the Glasgow Science Centre to find out who would claim an award in the Scottish Renewables’ Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

Established with the aim of recognising talent and innovation in the renewable energy sector, the awards, in their inaugural year, attracted a high number of nominations, resulting in a shortlist of 30 highly talented and committed individuals from the renewables sector.

Stephanie Mill, solicitor with UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn claimed the award in the Professional category. She said: “I'm absolutely delighted to have won the Professional award. I am extremely lucky to work within a fantastic inspiring team at Shepherd and Wedderburn which has given me the opportunity to work on some great renewables projects with some brilliant clients”.

Stephanie specialises in offshore wind projects and has worked on schemes in both Scotland and England.  During the nomination stage, managers on projects on which Stephanie has worked, commented on her “sheer hard work and determination to deliver an excellent legal service at all times”.

Jillian McKenna, Director of Marketing at Scottish Renewables, said: “We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of entries to the awards, which are in their first year.

“Our winners perfectly demonstrate the vital contribution young professionals are making to the success of renewable energy. People like Dr Eve Bird show how academia plays such a huge role in what is still a young industry, while talented lawyers and consultants like Stephanie Mill and Vijay Bhopal, who won the Professional and Entrepreneur Awards respectively, shows how crucial professional support is to ensuring the success of projects.”
