Family Investment Companies
Family investment companies are one of several structures that enable you to maintain and manage the transfer of family wealth across different family members and generations. They have some similarities to trusts, and some important differences.
Although family investment companies have some similarities to trusts, and can operate in a similar way, they are a separate specialist topic that requires expertise in asset protection, the operation of companies, and the taxation of companies and individuals.
Family investment companies can offer certain advantages over trusts, such as not being exposed to ongoing periodic inheritance tax charges. And they offer other forms of tax-efficiency too, especially around the accumulation of income within the corporate structure.
They come in many different forms with differing share structures and methods of funding them.
