Solicitor Advocates
Selecting the right team to present a case in court is crucial to success. Because our team includes four Solicitor Advocates, we have all the necessary skills and experience in-house, and can provide a high-quality and seamless service.
Shepherd and Wedderburn’s four Solicitor Advocates, as well as being qualified as solicitors, have the right to appear in higher courts such as the Court of Session, High Court of England and Wales, and UK Supreme Court. Between them they have a very wide range of experience, including at the Court of Justice of the EU. Because we have this specialist resource in-house, our commercial dispute resolution team can, if desired, take litigation to its conclusion without having to instruct external counsel.
At every stage of the litigation process, including both written and oral presentation, it is essential to have the right team. Our Solicitor Advocates are available to provide expert support and tactical advice from Day One and, working closely with our other solicitors, help to ensure the best possible outcome. This also enables the team to provide a seamless service to clients, with direct access to the people who will be representing their interests in court.
Our expertise includes:
- Defending a multimillion-pound product liability claim in the Court of Session (Outer House)
- Pursuing a multimillion-pound construction defects claim in the Court of Session (Outer House)
- Defending statutory appeals taken against decisions of a professional regulator in the Court of Session (Inner House)
- Corporate schemes of arrangement
