Emma is an experienced planning lawyer who advises on non-contentious and contentious planning law matters, largely within the energy and renewables sector.
She spent two years at SSE Renewables as the in-house planning and consents legal adviser for the Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Phases A, B and C, as well as a number of onshore renewables projects.
Prior to that, Emma spent three years in-house with Scottish Borders Council and has extensive experience in:

- post-consent advice.
Major projects she has advised on include:
- Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind on its application for development consent for an offshore wind farm in England
- ScottishPower Renewables in connection with a Public Inquiry for Carrick Onshore Wind Farm (including advocacy)
- Ørsted Hornsea Project Four Limited in making representations to the Net Zero Teesside Development Consent Order (including advocacy at an Issue Specific Hearing)
- Gallaher Limited on its petition against the HS2 Phase 2b Hybrid Bill including negotiation of an undertaking and preparation for Select Committee appearance
- West of Orkney Wind Farm with its application for Section 36 consent for an offshore wind farm
- Moray West Offshore Wind Farm on post-consent aspects of its Section 36 consent
- Transmission Investment on the consenting aspects of grid balancing projects
- Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm (as in-house legal adviser) on the implementation of its development consent order
- Advising SSE Renewables (as in-house legal adviser) on the consenting and compulsory acquisition aspects of three onshore wind farms and a hydro-pumped storage project.
- Acting for Scottish Borders Council (as in-house legal adviser) on the Birneyknowe Wind Farm onshore wind inquiry, and the Barrel Law 2 wind farm planning appeal hearing, as well as several other onshore wind farm planning appeals.
