Colin is a Senior Solicitor in the Infrastructure team. He primarily focuses on the clean energy sector, although he has acted in others including defence, healthcare, hospitality, transport, education, waste and real estate development.

He is experienced in projects using a variety of renewable technologies including onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage, transmission infrastructure, carbon capture and hydro. He has working with a range of standard form contracts including NEC, JCT, SBCC, FIDIC and also bespoke construction, PFI and commercial contracts. Colin also has in-house experience, gained during on secondments to an offshore wind project and the renewables business of a large utility.

He also specialises in public procurement, providing advice to local authorities, governmental organisations, public bodies and private sector organisations on a range of procurement instructions.

  • While on secondment to an offshore wind project, drafting, negotiating and reviewing NDAs, construction and commercial agreements. 
  • While on secondment to the renewables business of a large utility, working on construction and maintenance contracts in relation to onshore wind, repowering, battery storage and solar.
  • Assisting with preparing subcontracts for a tier one contractor in relation to a carbon capture and storage project. 
  • Assisting with a number of matters for a leading battery storage contractor in the UK and Europe, as well as preparing template documentation for future projects.
  • Assisting in commercial agreements for the offshore wind sector, including compensation and crossing agreements.
  • Assisting with the negotiation and drafting of service and maintenance agreements for all operational onshore wind farms for a large renewables developer.
  • Assisting with negotiating and preparing the contract documents for a large landowner to install solar panels across commercial properties in the UK.
  • Reviewing an Interface Agreement for a contractor in relation to an international hydro project.
  • Assisting with ongoing advice to the contractor in relation to transmission upgrade works.
  • Assisting with preparing grant documentation for an industry body providing funding for offshore wind projects in the UK.
  • Assisting with preparing commercial and radar agreements for onshore wind projects in Scotland.
  • Assisting with the negotiation and drafting of a service and maintenance agreement for a contractor in relation to an onshore wind farm in Wales.
  • Assisting with the preparing of template subcontracts for a tier contractor in relation to a major defence project.
  • Assisting with the provision of ongoing advice and preparation of documentation for a higher education institution in the Middle East.
  • Preparing and negotiating all contract documents including a JCT Schedule of Amendments in relation to strip out and fit out works for an office facility in England.
  • Assisting with the preparation of subcontracts for a contractor in relation to rail upgrade works for a number of Projects in England.
  • Working on PFI contracts, including in relation to variations to Project Agreements and Benchmarking.
  • Assisting with the provision of procurement advice to a utility in respect the utilities regulations.
  • Assisting with advising a number of organisations in relation to whether they are caught by the procurement regulations or the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Assisting with provision of advice in relation to variations to an energy from waste facility.
