Charlotte is a Senior Solicitor in the firm's Private Wealth and Tax Team.
She assists clients with their personal affairs, including preparing wills, living wills and powers of attorney. She also has experience of complex and multifaceted executry matters, and of the creation and administration of Trusts and Charities.
Charlotte is a fully qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) – a worldwide professional body for practitioners advising in the field of trusts and estates. She is also a registered Notary Public.
- Managing a variety of executry matters, often involving complex Inheritance Tax calculations.
- Preparing wills, codicils, informal writings, letters of wishes, powers of attorney and living wills.
- Providing advice in relation to Inheritance Tax, legal rights, the protection of vulnerable beneficiaries, and general asset protection.
- Administering a large number of trusts on an ongoing basis and preparing trust documentation, such as Trust Deeds, Deeds of Assumption and Conveyance, Deeds of Resignation, Deeds of Appointment and Trustees’ Minutes.
- Preparing Inheritance Tax calculations and HMRC Forms relative to periodic charges and entries and exits from trusts within the relevant property regime.
- Administering several grant-making charities, and preparing the annual Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) Return for approval by the Trustees
- Assisting with the creation and wind up of various charities, including the preparation of Trustee Minutes and Applications to OSCR.
Charlotte is a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Charlotte completed the STEP Diploma in 2023, receiving a Distinction mark and a Worldwide Excellence Award, as the top performing student within the 2023 student cohort.
Charlotte is also a Notary Public, registered with the Foreign & Commonwealth Development Office.
