Caroline advises on all aspects of real estate, with a particular emphasis on institutional investment, commercial development and property finance. She acts for investors, lenders landlords and tenants across a wide variety of sectors.
She also frequently deals with the Scottish side of cross-border portfolio investment deals and portfolio property finance matters. In addition, Caroline heads up the property side of our Telecoms Team, acting for Operators in securing both new sites and renewal of leases of their existing portfolios.
She is dual qualified in Scotland and England & Wales.
Property Investment & Leasing
- Acting for Hermes Investment Management in their 2018 acquisition of Skypark Campus, Glasgow for a sum in excess of £80 million, ongoing commercial leasing of office space, and work in relation to redevelopment and future development at the site.
- Advising the Seller on the sale of the Gyle Shopping Centre, Edinburgh in 2023 for approx £40 million.
- Advising Ardent on the Scots law-related matters of their first UK Logistics Portfolio acquisition in 2023, which included a warehouse in Gourock and an industrial estate in Galashiels.
Property Finance
- Advising on the lender side on both the 2022 and 2025 refinance of the Silverburn Shopping Centre.
- Advising on the lender side on the financing of PLATFORM_Glasgow, Scotland’s largest build-to-rent (BTR) Scheme.
- Advising on the lender side of the development financing of the Springside BTR Scheme in Edinburgh.
Development
- Acting for one of the landowners in the joint venture arrangement for sale of land for residential development of around 400 homes at Westwood Park, Glenrothes.
- Acting for the developer in their acquisition of land on the outskirts of St Andrews for development as a new golf course.
Telecoms
- Advising a UK Telecommunications Operator on all aspects of their mast portfolio in Scotland. This includes dealing with negotiation of new mast site leases and renewal of existing mast site leases and other property management documentation.
- Advising two UK Telecommunications Operators on the role out of circa 100 new mast sites under the Government lead Shared Rural Network Project to deliver 4G coverage to 95% of the UK, enabling rural communities and businesses to have better connectivity.
