Shepherd and Wedderburn partner announced as Women in Property's South East Chairman

The South East branch of Women in Property (WiP) has announced its new branch Chairman.  Sally Morris-Smith of Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP takes up the role from 1st March for one year.

Sally, who has been a member of WiP for eight years, is a Partner in the London Real Estate and Infrastructure division and advises property companies on the acquisition and development of mixed use sites – most recently the establishment and funding of residential schemes for eventual sale and rent using both public and private investment from the UK and Asia.

Shepherd and Wedderburn plays an active role in industry bodies and this year it will again be sponsor to the Property Week Awards, when Sally will be presenting the Placemaking Award.

She said, “Women in Property has been supporting women working in the property and construction sector for nearly 30 years, promoting networking, mentoring and professional development.  Over this time the diversity agenda has really come to the fore, with employers beginning to understand the benefits that come from bringing together a mixed team.

“WiP is a great advocate of this and works hard to help senior management address diversity issues and less experienced members realise their potential.”

In the South East region, recent WiP events include “Top Tips on Career Progression” hosted at the Hoxton Hotel. Other popular events for members and clients alike, include the Property Race Day at Ascot and the National Student Awards Dinner at Claridge’s.  The South East branch has also recently provided male and female students at the University of Westminster and University of Greenwich with CV workshops and interview training.
