Shepherd and Wedderburn sponsors hotel operating agreements conference

Hotel industry leaders will converge later this month to enjoy a full programme of presentations and discussions relating to hotel operating and management agreements.

Sponsoring the annual ‘Hotel Operating Agreements’ conference, industry experts from leading UK law firm, Shepherd and Wedderburn, will be on hand to provide practical guidance for hotel owners, operators, managers, investors, lawyers and consultants.

Over the years, Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Hotels and Leisure team has built up a strong reputation in the hotels sector, advising many of the country’s leading hotel investors, developers, financiers and operators on day-to-day operations as well as more specialist projects. Involvement in this event, therefore, provides a very good fit for the firm.

Property and Infrastructure Partner Hugh Smith, who heads up the team, commented: “At a time when franchises and independent management are on the increase in the hotel industry, negotiating the right terms for hotel operating agreements has a significant impact on the bottom line of a business. We are looking forward to listening to practical case studies and to exchanging views and new ideas with many of the sector’s key figures at the upcoming event.”

Claire Stockford, partner and international disputes expert at Shepherd and Wedderburn, will discuss current thinking on the terms of existing and new operating, franchising and independent management agreements as part of a speaker panel. Each of the panel members will address contentious issues around the subject and take part in a wider Q&A discussion.

The event takes place on 27 April at London’s Le Meridien Piccadilly hotel.
