Scottish property industry competes for global capital

Now in its ninth year, the annual conference of the Scottish Property Federation (SPF) takes place on 9 March at Edinburgh’s Dynamic Earth.

This year’s event, themed ‘Attracting Global Capital’, features an impressive speaker line-up of key industry and political figures, including an address by Deputy First Minister John Swinney MSP.

BBC Scotland’s renowned political editor, Brian Taylor will referee a political question time with MSPs, Jackie Baillie, Gavin Brown, Kenny Gibson and Willie Rennie, which promises to be a conference highlight in this Scottish election year.

Leading UK law firm, Shepherd and Wedderburn, whose top-ranked Real Estate and Infrastructure team has extensive expertise and an exceptional client base in the Scottish property market, is a sponsor of the conference.

Colin Innes, Partner and accredited planning specialist at the firm, commented: “The SPF Annual Conference is a key date in the diary of our Real Estate and Infrastructure team. This year’s theme, Attracting Global Capital, shines a light on one of the key focuses for the Scottish property industry to meet the need for more housing despite constrained public financial resources. I look forward to exchanging views with some of Scotland’s leading property experts and to discussing the outlook for 2016 in light of the Scottish elections.”

Following a year of significant change to Scottish property law and key judicial determinations, Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Real Estate and Infrastructure team, which has significant experience in advising on purchases and sales of investment and development properties, joint ventures, secured finance transactions, as well as planning and development issues, has published  a new briefing: Reflections on 2015 – Scottish Property Update.

The briefing provides an overview of the year’s most significant court decisions and legislative and procedural changes. It is available to download here
