Shepherd and Wedderburn partner to speak at Commonwealth Law Conference

Between 12 and 16 April legal professionals from over 52 countries will congregate in Glasgow at the Commonwealth Law Conference, which is now in its 19th year. Speakers at the event include luminaries from the legal profession such as Geoffrey Robinson QC; Scotland’s longest serving judge, Lord Gill; and New Zealand’s Governor-General, Dame Silvia Cartwright.

The theme of the 2015 conference will reflect the issues surrounding globalisation with a particular focus on current trends in corporate and commercial law; the legal profession; and the rule of law.

Shepherd and Wedderburn partner, John MacKenzie will address the conference on the first day of the week-long event, on the subject of managing risks to corporate reputations. With globalisation comes the challenge of protection of brands and reputation around the world, rather in just him your “home” jurisdiction. John will explore how lawyers can tackle that challenge.

John MacKenzie said: “ It’s great that the conference is taking place in Glasgow, a city which is home to one of Shepherd and Wedderburn’s offices in the UK.  Increasing globalisation means that it is vital to make the most of opportunities such as these to connect or reconnect with fellow professionals, exchange ideas and learn from the experiences of speakers and delegates from other jurisdictions.”

The conference venue is the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.  More details available here.
