The Scottish Government has recently published proposals for reforms in the PRS, with the aim of both creating a "new, modernised and simplified tenancy system" and eliminating some of the difficulties with the current regime. This seminar will consider the proposed reforms and their potential impact on landlords, including investors in build-to-rent and student housing developments, and their lenders. Issues to be discussed include recovery of possession from tenants, and the proposals for restrictions on rent increases in rent pressure zones. The position in England will also be discussed, focusing on the key differences between the sectors north and south of the border, both pre- and post-reform.
