This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 30 April 2018.
Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP is a Scottish headquartered law firm. We have offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Aberdeen from which we deliver expert legal advice to commercial, public sector and private clients across a diverse range of industries with both UK and global interests.
We have 78 partners, 400 staff and a turnover of over £53million for the financial year ending 30 April 2018.
Our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business.
In light of the obligation to report on measures to ensure that all parts of our business and supply chain are slavery free, we have put in place a designated Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy. Our Modern Slavery Policy demonstrates our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in our supply chains.
Our Key Supply Chains
In order to ensure that all persons within our firm’s key supply chains comply with the firm’s values and ethics, we have included in our supplier questionnaire, questions on our key suppliers’ policies and approaches. This questionnaire has been sent to all existing key suppliers, and is sent to all potential new key suppliers.
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we intend to make training resources available to all of our staff including those involved in recruitment and procurement.
We attained Gold Level accreditation from Investors in People (the UK’s leading people management standard) in 2018, having first achieved accreditation in 2005. We were re-accredited Gold Investors in Young People status in 2018.
