Short-Term Work Visits
Sponsorship is not the only way that non-UK citizens can enter the country to work. Under certain specific circumstances, working is also allowed on a visitor visa.
Working in the UK on a visitor visa is normally prohibited, but there is a very specific exception to this.
Certain overseas employers can send employees to the UK on a visitor visa, to work for up to six months. Only certain sorts of work are allowed: the employee may install, dismantle, repair, service or advise on machinery and equipment. And there are strict rules about the employer too. It must have manufactured the equipment, in which case there must be a contract of purchase, supply or lease; or it must be part of a contractual arrangement for after sales services, agreed at the time of the sale or lease, with a UK company or organisation.
The above is just a basic overview. If you think that this route might be useful to your business, we can guide you on the details, how they apply to your particular circumstances, and what visa options are most suited to your requirements. If the visitor route is the most suitable solution, we can advise you on the necessary evidence for visa applications or cross-border travel, and help your employees to apply for visas.
