The Committee will continue to take evidence on its Accountability and Governance inquiry and on various Financial Memoranda at subsequent meetings.

8. Inquiry into the Scottish Executive’s plans for future structural funds programmes 2007-13: The Committee will discuss issues for its draft Report.

9. The European Commission’s White Paper on Communication Policy: The Committee will discuss its draft response.

Proposed future business
At its next meeting on 20 June, the Committee expects to take oral evidence from witnesses on its inquiry to inform its response to the European Commission’s Green Paper on a European Strategy for Sustainable, Competitive and Secure Energy. The Committee will also take evidence from George Lyon MSP, Deputy Minister for Finance and Public Service Reform, on the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill (UK Parliament legislation). It is expected that the Committee will also consider draft reports on its inquiries into possible co-operation between Scotland and Ireland and into the Scottish Executive’s plans for future structural funds programmes 2007-13.
The Committee is also planning to agree a call for evidence for its inquiry into the European Commission’s Strategy for Growth and Jobs and to receive an update on its inquiry into the Transposition and Implementation of European Directives in Scotland.
