The fifth National Ideas Day conference is to be held in London today
and it is no coincidence that the conference has been scheduled for the day
after Einstein's birthday. The UK association of suggestion schemes, ideasUK,
is hosting the event and hopes to attract representatives from up to 100 organisations
to discuss the use of staff suggestion schemes. The successful implementation
of such schemes save ideasUK's 160 members in the region of £80m - £90m
each year. Another topic of discussion will be lateral thinking in business,
which speaker Paul Sloane believes that "should be encouraged so that
anyone can challenge anyone else's ideas regardless of their status".
