US businessman Malcolm Glazer has made a third takeover bid for Manchester
United, valued at £800 million.

Mr Glazer, who also owns the NFL Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, currently holds 28.1% of the shares in Manchester United.
Under London stock exchange rules if a
single shareholder holds 29% of the shares then they must make a take over
bid. The current bid is Mr Glazer's third bid for Manchester United. Despite
failing in his first two attempts it is thought that his third bid may be
successful as it offers current shareholders £3 per share.

However, Mr
Glazer faces two obstacles in taking over the club - firstly the company
Cubic Expression, the investment vehicle of shareholders John Magnier
and J P McManus, and secondly the Manchester United fans themselves. The
fans group Shareholders United have already staged a peaceful process at
Old Trafford
against him.
