Hello! magazine recently won its appeal against a court order obliging it
to pay OK! magazine £1million for publishing unauthorised pictures of
the wedding of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas.
The Court of Appeal held that OK! had no right of confidence in Hello's unauthorised
photos and therefore had no right of action against Hello! To this end, the £1million
damages did not need to be paid. The Court confirmed that only Catherine Zeta-Jones
and Michael Douglas, on the other hand, had a right of confidence to have the
privacy of their wedding protected.
