In March 2019, we opened an office in Singapore in direct response to client demand for our internationally-recognised regulatory expertise and our experience of supporting leading businesses in the telecoms, energy and utilities sectors. It is important for many of these clients for us to have a presence on the ground and our office is a base from which we can share our regulatory and competition expertise with other businesses and organisations across the Asia Pacific region.
Shepherd and Wedderburn has a growing international practice and our lawyers are currently supporting 70 clients active in more than 120 jurisdictions outside the UK.
The firm is a founder member of Scottish Legal International, a joint initiative led by several of Scotland’s top commercial firms, Scottish Development International (SDI) and the Law Society of Scotland, which aims to expand on this success and promote Scotland’s legal sector to international markets.
In addition, Shepherd and Wedderburn is a founder member of the World Services Group, an international professional services network comprising 19,000 professionals in more than 115 countries, and works with a network of specialist partner firms in Singapore and elsewhere.
Our offering to clients in Singapore is led by Partners Gordon Moir, Gordon Downie and John Grady, who act for many blue chip clients in the telecoms, energy and utilities sectors.
They are supported on the ground by Carolyn Lints, a corporate governance specialist and former commercial property lawyer who has lived in Singapore for more than a decade and previously supported the establishment of a UK-headquartered law firm in the region.
