Elaine trained and qualified in Scotland, and thereafter requalified in England and Wales in 2000 while working for a firm in the City of London.
Elaine has more than 25 years' experience in the real estate sector, including involvement in major UK-wide property transactions, multiple property 'portfolio' deals and cross-border work. A particular area of expertise is property development (including PFI/PPP and renewable energy).

Our English property team operates as one team across three offices and Elaine heads up the Scottish-based personnel in the team and also works closely with Stephen Hubner in London, leading the property sub-team which specialises in English and Welsh renewable energy work. Elaine advises a number of our energy clients on their English and Welsh projects, including new option agreements/leases; site assembly; easements and land rights; highway and infrastructure agreements; and variations of operational projects. Sectors include onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery (and other forms of energy storage) and hydroponics.
In addition, Elaine has long-standing relationships with a number of the firm’s clients across a variety of disciplines. Clients include house builders, investors (including forestry), developers, hotel operators, funders, corporate occupiers and healthcare providers.
Elaine has a Post Graduate Diploma in Commercial Property Development, Planning & Environmental Law and was first recommended for project work and property development in the 2006 edition of Legal 500.
