Horizons 2016 - Scottish Property Update

Shepherd and Wedderburn’s top ranked Real Estate and Infrastructure team has published Horizons 2016: Scottish Property Update, a briefing paper that provides an overview of the sector's recent legislative and procedural changes.

21 April 2016

The Scottish Parliament was dissolved on 23 March, in preparation for the Election on 5 May. The new administration, when it is elected, will no doubt have a full agenda for 2016/2017, but there is already much in the pipeline that will affect the real estate sector, in the months to come.

Parliament was frenziedly busy in the final days before dissolution, passing several complex Bills that will have a future impact on property interests. The Land Reform (Scotland) Bill and the Private Housing (Tenancies) (Scotland) Bill were both debated and passed in the final days of the Parliament.

Shepherd and Wedderburn’s top ranked Real Estate and Infrastructure team, which has significant experience in advising on purchases and sales of investment and development properties, joint ventures, secured finance transactions, as well as planning and development issues, has published Horizons 2016: Scottish Property Update. The briefing provides an overview of the recent legislative and procedural changes. It is available to download here.
